Earth Friendly

Renewable and Sustainable

We believe it is important for production of our products to be environmentally and socially responsible manner.

We recommend Jute and Indian Grown cotton. Much of the jute and Indian cotton fiber used to make the fabric for Earthbags is grown as a sustainable cash crops by small farmers who principally use age old manual farming techniques and organic based nutrients, with the minimal amount of irrigation.

Jute and cotton are natural fibers and as such are 100% biodegradable. In our Earthbag range we strive to ensure that all fittings and fixtures are also made of natural, earth friendly materials.

The jute plant is an annual plant that thrives best in moist soil in a hot, humid climate. Jute and cotton are grown as a seasonal crop in India, relying on the monsoon rains. The natural  jute fiber is extracted by hand from within the stalk of the jute plant, while cotton is hand picked off the plant.

Jute and cotton are grown as cash crops in rotation with food crops. The age old manual farming techniques are used with organic based nutrients and the minimal amount of irrigation and chemicals.

Our Cotton Paper products are made of cotton waste from fabric mills, garment manufacturing plants and agricultural crop byproducts like straw and chaff. It is handmade using techniques that are centuries old and does NOT contain any wood pulp or recycled paper.
